Happy Thanksgiving!

I found this homemade gourd turkey at the thrift store for 40 cents. In addition to a painted body, a felt hat, and a typing-paper color, he has thumbtack feet. He gobbled to me as I past by, "Rescue me!"

I'm such a sucker for handmade items in thrift stores. Are you? What are some of your favorite rescues?

Embroidered tea towels and pillowcases are my weakness...

I found two great glass lamps many years ago while browsing through a thrift shop. My friend laughed all the way home until she saw them with new shades and all cleaned up. A big score!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy that cute turkey.

Hooray for gourd rescue! I should send your turkey gourd a photo of my chicken gourd to keep him company.

Anything embroidered usually stops me in the thrift shop aisle; I've even found needlepoint pieces that were wonderful!
