Look a little closer: Why, of course! It is the beginnings of my 7yo son's yarn stash! (Even I had not thought of keeping yarn in the bathroom. Brilliant.)

A little knitting going on while he's on the pot? It's been known to happen... There is yarn in just about every place imaginable in this house. Most of it has been moved over into the laundry room that is in my DH's woodshop, but my stash just spilled over into the kitchen. I moved all my leftover sock yarn balls into an unused picnic basket that sits ontop of one of the kitchen cabinets. Shh! Nobody's discovered it yet.
