I am researching dehydrators right now (due to my serious beef jerky "problem" since my surgery!). Do you love your dehydrator? would you recommend it? How about this one:
Inky--We have a Nesco Dehydrator--simple and inexpensive--and have been very happy with it. The fruit-roll-ups we made with white peaches were sensational! I think if we lived in a less humid area, I would have investigated getting a solar dehydrator.
Beadlizard--We just have a regular composter but every time I see a worm bin I get all excited. What fun that would be with my son! Right now I use the tomato trimmings along with other fruit and veggie trimmings for soup stock.
Amy--Oh, I wish they were from our garden! Our tomato plants needed a bit more sun, a bit more compost, and a bit more water to be very productive. These came from a farm stand in Dickerson, MD with great prices on bushels and half bushels of produce. I definitely recommend them.
That's how I've dealt with the maters this year - so easy! I used a different model of Nesco and I'm totally happy with it. I also do peach slices and last year I did cherries. I haven't tried fruit roll-ups yet but I like my dried fruit combined with other things, like cereal.

Do you have a worm composter or does it get too cold there? They'd love the tomato trimmings...
MMM... yum, are those from your garden? Your CSA?
